Barents Café encourages discussion on Barents issues. This time Barents Café will focus on northern media.

Coordinator Elena Larionova from the international Barents Press network will tell about the recent developments of the Northern Russian media and information sphere. Head of commercial department Anna Shoomigay from TV Murman will have a look at the role of advertisement in the Russian media. Editor Thomas Nilsen from BarentsObserver newsportal provides a perspective on journalism in the Barents region. Head of science communications Markku Heikkilä from the Arctic Centre will act as a moderator for the discussions. The event will be conducted in English.

Barents Café is intended for all interested in Barents issues. The target groups are journalists, students and wider public. The event is hosted by the Barents Mediasphere project funded by the European Union’s Kolarctic ENPI cross border co-operation programme and the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland.
